A Day of Boating

Image
A little late on this post. Pics from our boating excursion this past Sunday with our visiting friends Eric & Kathie. Our yacht rental was originally supposed to be a 59ft boat. However, due to a technical issue, they upgraded us to a 75 footer!  A lot of boat for four people but an amazing relaxing way to spend the last day with our friends. We had a captain and two crew mates, whom we really didn’t need. We spent the whole afternoon riding on the bow of the boat, sightseeing from the water, cranking our tunes from their Bluetooth speakers.  Atlantis in the background, along with the “Dubai Balloon” (it goes up and down on a tether) The Royal Atlantis in the background.  Part of the other Atlantis but a higher end hotel.  They brought BĂ©yonce in when they opened it last year! Dubai Harbour . . . . View of the Dubai Marina skyline from our boat Burj Khalifa off in the distance, as seen from the boat

Skypools & Ziplines

Exciting first day in Dubai with our friends Eric & Kathie (they are visiting for the week). Above is the Aura Skypool where we spent the afternoon. It is the highest infinity pool in the world on the 50th floor (656ft/200 meters). It sits atop the St. Regis Hotel in the middle of the Palm Jumeirah. It has a bar/restaurant in the middle with the pool circling the perimeter. 360 degree views!  Beautiful sunset at the end of the day! View of the Burj Al Arab hotel in the distance . . .  View of the outer Palm with Atlantis in the middle Earlier, Julie and Kathie braved the heights and did the XLine Dubai zipline near our apartment in the Marina.  It is the longest urban zipline in the world (1km), starting at the 44th floor (170m/558ft)  They travelled at 55mph before landing safely atop the Dubai Marina Mall.  Below is the launch pad on the top of the building . . . .
