The Global Village

Over the weekend, we visited the Global Village, a massive 17.2M square foot (395 acre) venue for shopping, dining, and entertainment. It has a bit of an EPCOT feel as it showcases over 90 countries/cultures from around the world, grouped into pavilions for each country. One can buy the traditional goods from each country, try their food, and often see ethnic dancers and singers. There is also an amusement park component to the Global Village which boasts over 170 rides, along with several large stages for major performances. There was even a laser/fireworks show over a central lake. Over 6M people visit this place annually!

There was a unique exhibit called “mini village” which displayed scaled down models of major international landmarks . . . .

Sometimes things don’t translate as planned (or maybe they’re just being honest about their burgers!)

So this is what constituted the American pavilion. They lumped us in with Mexico, Canada, and South America!

Europe wasn’t much better . . .

There are 3 animated characters called “wonderers” that serve as mascots to the park.  This is one of them displayed as part of a fountain

There were interesting light sculptures throughout the park

Roaming coffee vendor . . . .
