A Day in Lucerne

 

Amazing day in Lucerne, a town and canton about 50min south of Zurich.  Started our day by traversing Lake Lucerne by boat to the small town of Vitznau.  There we took a rack railway to the top of Mt. Rigi.  The rack railway has a slotted “rack” in which a gear fits, preventing the train from careening downhill and allowing it to climb steep slopes.  Julie and I are shown above at the summit of Mt. Rigi (5900ft), known as “the queen of the mountains.”
